Hi!
I’m Tyler and I am thrilled to follow God’s call to raise up a new community of Jesus-followers.
My parents introduced me to Jesus, and I’ve followed him for over 30 years now. Growing up, my family moved frequently, and that brought a significant amount of frustration and upheaval. Looking back, I felt that each time we moved it was to a better situation than before. I know that God was with us throughout all those seasons, even as I processed my hurt with Him.
As a teenager, I recommitted my life to Christ, feeling like I finally had a more complete picture of what it meant to own my faith and live as a follower of Jesus. From there, God has graciously and steadily been at work in my life. He has helped me shed my anger and sinful tendency towards a judgmental attitude, with a great deal to go. He's moving me from being competitive for my own glory to being passionately committed for His glory. Now, he's given me a deep desire to make disciples of Jesus and to boldly proclaim the gospel of Christ wherever I can.
Lauren and I have been married for 9 years. We have two incredible daughters, and one child in heaven. Our kids have revolutionized my understanding of God as Father, and we cherish the joy of telling them about Jesus and watching them love Him. My hope is to bring the full beauty and power of the gospel to people’s lives as we live out our mission to reach the world with Jesus.

Lynn and I have been married for 39 years. We have 4 adult children, Adam, Ben, Austin, Marie – and one brand new grandbaby.
Lynn and I have 20 years’ experience in full-time Pastoral ministry between 2 years of Youth Ministry and 18 as a Senior Pastor. I also have 18 years’ experience in counseling children, youth, adults, families and marriage. Most recently, I have been serving as a Counseling Pastor while Lynn is a care giver.
Church planting has never been on the radar for either of us, but the leadership of Northshore asked if we would consider joining Tyler and Lauren in this new journey. After much prayer and thought, we decided to partner with them. We are motivated by faithful obedience and chose to step into the unknown, trusting God to lead each step of the way. We’re excited to see the Spirit move and make disciples that make disciples for Jesus!
Karla Burgin
Worship Leader
Hello. I’m Karla, the worship leader at Rooted Community Church.
It’s weird to have that title next to my name. I’ve been involved in church choirs and small groups with lots of singing all my life, but never as the official worship leader. I am confident that God has been preparing me for such a time as this.
I grew up in a Christian home, involved in lots of church stuff over the years, but it wasn’t until I traveled to Israel in 2011 that I started to care about the words I sang. I wanted to sing songs filled with God’s Word and centered on Him - songs that reflected deep biblical truth about Him, His creation and His kingdom.
I know that the worship music is one of the biggest stumbling blocks in churches today. But I also know that there are many ways to worship - through scripture, prayer, responsive reading, and quiet meditation. I look forward to helping our Rooted family fully experience God’s goodness and grace through all kinds of worship.
My life is not all music, although I am a walking jukebox. I have a wonderful husband Rodney, and a beautiful home in Arlington filled with love and laughter. We have been a part of Rooted since its inception in 2023.
I look forward to all that God has for us here at Rooted. I pray you feel His love and grace as we carry out Jesus’ mission, spreading His message for His glory.
